From DailyMail:
Salt has long been seen as enemy number one for people with heart problems, with doctors telling patients to cut down on the amount of sodium they consume.
But new research suggests that restricting salt too much may actually raise the risk of an early death in heart failure patients.
Their work builds upon a growing body of research that posits the benefits of cutting out salt to this subset of patients may be overblown.
And the findings could mean a more exciting diet for more than six million Americans with heart…

Colorado researchers theorize that fructose metabolism may be the driving force behind Alzheimer’s Disease pathology. Diets high in sugar and high glycemic index carbohydrates would exacerbate the problem. Salt may also play a role. Fructose is a simple sugar (a monosaccharide) typically found in fruit, honey, and some vegetables. Table sugar is sucrose, a combination of fructose and a glucose molecule. High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is added to many processed foods as a bulk sweetener. From the article linked above:
An ancient human foraging instinct, fueled by fructose production in the…

“One little piece won’t hurt . . .”
An article in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics found an association between overweight/obesity and consumption of ultra-processed foods in US adolescents.
The study looked at 3,600 adolescents who reported their food intake over a 24-hour period. The results are pretty strong: the more ultra-processed food consumed, the greater the odds of overweight and obesity.
Jan at The Low Carb Diabetic blog reported that:

The Fed is making the same exact mistake it made a year ago, and possibly the biggest mistake in its history.
That’s according to Jeremy Siegel, who criticized the Fed’s inability to recognize that inflation is easing.
“It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever, way too tight!” Siegel said.
Wharton professor Jeremy Siegel has a big issue with the Federal Reserve’s aggressive interest rate hikes in its bid to tame inflation, and worries that the central bank is making…

ANDOVER — Intensely private and reserved, Linda Robinson was also diligent, exacting and detail oriented, her former boss recalled.

Robinson was his director of finance for 25 years. She left the company on good terms shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, said DiSalvo, who is also the North Andover town moderator.

February 7, 2023 · 7:00 AM
From DailyMail:
Last year, more than 10,000 people in Canada – surprisingly that’s over three percent of all deaths there – ended their lives via euthanasia, an increase of a third in the previous year. And it’s likely to keep rising: next year, Canada is set to allow people to die exclusively for mental health reasons.
Only last week, a jaw-dropping story emerged of how, five years into an infuriating battle to obtain a stairlift for her home, Canadian army veteran and Paralympian Christine Gauthier was offered an extraordinary alternative.
A Canadian official told…

Apple could have two non-China problems on its hands in 2023: analyst [Video]
Apple could have a few other problems on its hands in 2023 besides an uncertain manufacturing situation in China, according to one Apple bull on the Street.
“I think there are two main issues laying ahead of Apple for 2023,” Oppenheimer analyst Martin Yang said on Yahoo Finance Live. “Number one is we have seen two years of very strong iPhone upgrades. That may weaken into 2023 because of two factors. One is the majority of the installed base is most likely upgraded. And then continuing macroeconomic pressure will cause certain groups of consumers to delay their upgrade. Secondly, there…
