Paladin expands into data centre market

Paladin EnviroTech, a US-based company, has quickly become a major player in the global IT asset disposition and electronics recycling space. The company is setting up new collection and processing hubs in the US and Europe, with a focus on data centres and cloud infrastructure.

Paladin’s chief operating officer, Bill Vasquez, says the company has seen fast business growth in recent months. This growth has been driven by the acquisition of existing businesses in several US states, including Florida, Maryland, and Minnesota.

Paladin acquired R&L Recycling of the Netherlands, a company that processes laptops, servers, cables, chargers, and printed circuit boards. R&L will continue to operate under its existing name, with the current management team remaining in place.

The acquisition marked Paladin’s first foray into the European market. They then acquired ICT of Dublin, Ireland, a company believed to be the country’s first R2-certified IT Asset Disposition provider.

According to Brian Diesselhorst, Paladin’s CEO, the acquisition of ICT strengthens the company’s ability to support customers in Dublin, the EU’s “data centre capital”, and across Ireland. Bill Vasquez adds that the rapid expansion of data centres and cloud infrastructure has led to fast growth in decommissioned hardware, servers, storage systems, and networking equipment that must be processed securely and sustainably.

They are positioning themselves at the centre of this emerging wave by targeting key locations like Dublin. The company’s expansion into Europe is driven by the need for secure and sustainable processing of decommissioned hardware.

In the US, Paladin has set up a joint venture with Critical Materials Recycling (CMR), under the name Recapture. The partnership is dedicated to collecting and recycling rare earth metals from consumer, automotive, and industrial electronics.

Recapture’s expertise is combined with Paladin’s collection system to recover critical materials efficiently and sustainably. This represents a major advance in critical materials management, merging CMR’s expertise in advanced material recovery with Paladin’s innovative environmental technology platform and global collection network.

With its expansion into Europe and its joint venture with CMR, the company is poised to play a major role in the global ITAD and electronics recycling space. For more details, visit: www.paladinenvirotech.com
